My grandmother's side of the family has been the hardest to research. The names are difficult to say and easy to misspell. I was downloading scrapbook stuff and came upon your scrapbook website through the LDS Blog Train and the July post for Noble Birthright. My father, Klemens (Clemens) Pienczykowski son of Paul and Aniela, born October 29? 1890 y. in Pienczykowek (this village belonged to the Pienczykowski's family. It was polish aristocracy).
I am very sorry for mistakes i made, but I never learned english, only polish, russian and latin.

At dziadek, Walter's, funeral the elderly neighborhood women told my mother that her father had come from wealthy landed gentry in Poland. There were two stories about why he left Poland at the age of 19, crossed Europe, and boarded a ship bound for the USA. One was that Poland was ruled by Russia at the time and he refused to serve in the Russian army. The second was that his father said that if he was to inherit he would have to live his life as dictated by him. Both stories could be true. Anyway, he worked as a mason all of his working life in Erie, Pennsylvania, where he raised his children. His brother lived in the New England area, so he had left Poland also. His brother was a lawyer. My mother said he used to visit once a year until her father accused him of flirting with his wife. Their sister in Poland became a nun. -Aunt Tish
